Vietnam As a Tourist

A visa is required to enter the city of Vietnam by South Africans

A city trembling from the past wars and of political violence of greedy Americans very sad and shameful.

Tunnels from War

Through out the years, I have been through many memorable moments on my own , one particularly memorable was my trip to Vietnam while visiting Thailand.

City of Siagon

Not too long ago, I went to Vietnam for two weeks long trip. Since I have never been to Vietnam before,I did not expect much. Rather, I expected the worst. The weather on my first day there did nothing to bolster my spirits. Every man, woman, and child on the plane was happily fimbling their thumbs on the built-in happily fimbling their thumbs on the built-in consoles. Unfortunately, my console was not functioning and I enjoyed the short flight from Thailand to Vietnam

Traveling in Vietnam
Most people who love to travel head to Europe and foreign countries. People are normally pleased with the place where they were born, grew up, and where their friends are.

I choose a country for my journey, which is one of the best tourist attractions in the world. There are many reasons why I choose to travel to Vietnam, for the most beautiful landscape, and special culture.
First, the most special thing that attracts foreign visitors to Vietnam is the amazing food. Vietnam has many special dishes with secret recipes. Food is the pride, and the cultures of this country. Vietnamese cuisine mixes meats, vegetables, noodles, and all kinds of seafood spiced with tamarind

One of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world, it is Halong Bay from the North. If you have a chance to go to Halong bay you will learn of all the beauty that goes with this breath taking place. It is believed that you can take one of small pebble from this bay and this pebble could bring you luck. The south of Vietnam is also beautiful.

I love that place with all my heart. A part of Southern Vietnam that I love is Bui Vien, which is English translates to Foreigner Street. It has many kinds of entertainment such as hotels, foods, travel services, which are the main businesses on this Street. People in this area speak many different languages. This community is considered to be an affordable place for people to travel to. This area has been mentioned in a list of places that must be visited when you are in Saigon. Another thing to see is the Bitexco financial tower, which is the fifth biggest tower in the world. Bitexco is the tallest building in Vietnam with symbol of lotus, this building as a shopping center. Also South of Vietnam, has a large, popular island known as Pearl Island. Apart from the long sandy beaches, there are reefs, primeval forests, and abundant natural carpets. These landscapes attract tourists to explore the unspoiled beauty. There are many places to explore and visit in Vietnam, but it cannot be describe all in a tiny journey.

My experience in Vietnam was very interesting, It was a memory that I will always have in the back of my mind. When first landing in Vietnam I was very excited and thought to myself “how bad could this experience possibly be”? .

The first couple days out on the mission I didn’t know what to think, it was very scary to me on hearing the stories about The history of the past of Vietnam.

My trip to Vietnam was a truly remarkable experience that exposed me to a new culture, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable memories. From bustling cities to serene countryside, Vietnam offered me a diverse range of experiences that left a lasting impact on me.

One of the highlights of my trip was exploring the vibrant city of Hanoi. Stepping into the heart of the old quarter, I found myself surrounded by a maze of narrow streets filled with bustling markets, street vendors, and the aroma of delicious street food

travelers that go to Asia. People are so friendly and resilient, food is very delicious and the places are simply amazing, from famous sceneries like Halong Bay to beautiful cities like Hanoi and Hoi An.

Vietnam is a country located in Southeastern Asia bordering the Gulf of Thailand, the Gulf of Tonkin, and the South China Sea. Neighboring countries include Cambodia, China, and Laos. The geography consists of hills and densely forested mountains in the northwest.

Ignorance is Pain

I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly. All I knew about Vietnam was Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam War, and a few words in Vietnamese. I knew nothing else, nothing about the people, culture, or how much I would fall in love with both.

History has never been my favorite subject in school. I hate it; despise it. And now here I am being pulled into it. There before our path, lay blue skies with cotton ball white clouds, which I’m sure was abnormal because of the high pollution levels. The more my cab driver turned corners and drove further into the Vietnamese farmlands, the more clear it became to me that he was lost.

While traveling down the empty road towards the Cu Chi tunnels seeing little clouds of sandy dirt puffing up behind the car, the trip began to take its toll on me. I started to get choked up with emotion and remorse. I felt as if I was being pulled into the history of Vietnam. It was as if there was a string that was attached to the middle of my chest pulling me deeper and deeper into the past.

For me, this historical flashback occurred in three stages, the first stage was shock. Shock, from seeing the contrasting vision of a quaint home and children in one moment and abruptly within that same moment seeing a cannon in their backyard. The second stage was tears; they were rolling down the side of my cheeks and were smeared across my hands from all of the wiping. I could not hold back the tears and to see the wide-open lush spaces of Vietnam, knowing that behind these thickets of land, and land mines, previously laid down by Americans were awaiting their next Vietnamese victims. These mines might have taken a leg, an arm, or a life but this is something that Americans do not think about on a daily basis. This was what was forgotten about when the war was over. The third stage was complete chaos that occurred within myself. My mind could not grasp what I was seeing. I was caught between sadness and confusion. I couldn’t sort through my thoughts one at a time and they all seemed to flood in at once.

After such an emotional experience with the history of Vietnam, it broke my heart even more to hear careless people say things to degrade the Vietnamese population, government, and lifestyle. All my life I had heard stories I was completely ignorant to the experiences and effects that the war had on Vietnam. Being able to connect with a country I knew little about was rewarding, and allowed me to connect with locals as well as learn more about the customs. Vietnam brought tears to my eyes and pain to my soul. I have never been oblivious to a country prior to visiting Vietnam and after my experience; I don’t intend to blindly visit a country ever again.

Ho Chi Minh City is also a tourist attraction. Some of the war and historic landmarks in the city include the Independence Palace, Landmark 81 (tallest building in Vietnam), the War Remnants Museum, and Bến Thành Market. The city is also known for its narrow walkable alleys and bustling night life.

Cruise along the Saigon River. …

Catch an authentic water puppet show. …

Discover Vietnam’s past at the Independence Palace. …

Experience new flavors on a food tour. …

Venture into the Cu Chi Tunnels. …

Feel the energy of Nguyen Hue Walking Street

There are plenty of museums showcasing the country’s dark wartime history and classic colonial architecture built by former French rulers. Today, Ho Chi Minh City is a popular tourist destination due to its fascinating culture, sleek skyscrapers, ornate temples and Chinese pagodas
